Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church (WCAC) is seeking a full-time English-speaking pastor to lead and shepherd our English-speaking enCompass ministry (enCompass) from youth to adult. Come join us and build a community of believers in the heart of Canada.
WCAC and enCompass strive to be a Christ-centered, biblically based, Spirit-led, outreaching community of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to be One Church, Making Disciples, Expanding Beyond our Walls.
We are seeking a Pastor who has a strong sense of calling to lead this church community; a passion to share their love for God; and a shepherd’s heart to care and build this ministry.
Role and Responsibilities
The Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor of WCAC. The Lead Pastor provides leadership with the elders and a team of deacons:
- to challenge and encourage personal and community growth through biblical preaching, teaching, discipleship, and evangelism.
- Establish a vibrant and nurturing community, facilitating evangelism, discipleship, spiritual growth, and a commitment to Christ.
- Identify, recruit, and develop lay leaders and volunteers, encourage, and enable them to serve in their areas of giftedness.
- Provide pastoral care and counsel.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other pastoral staff.
enCompass and WCAC Background
- enCompass is a diverse congregation of about 40 people ranging from youth to retirees. It is comprised of families with children and youth and young professional adults.
- enCompass members are primarily second-generation Canadian Chinese with other non-Asian nationalities.
- WCAC is a member with Christian and Missionary Alliance (Alliance Canada)
- WCAC has four ministries – Cantonese, Mandarin, enCompass and Children and Youth WCAC has over 250 regular attendees: 120 Cantonese, 50 Mandarin, 40 Children and Youth
- WCAC has been established since 1967.
Educational background and Qualifications
- Seminary graduate with a Master of Divinity or equivalent Able to obtain credentials with Alliance Canada
- Able to clear abuse registry checks.
- Have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience as a pastor in a North American church setting or experience in various leadership roles such as Elder, Deacon, Worship Leader, Preaching or other church ministries.
- Possess intercultural experience and some understanding of the immigrant family will be definite assets.
- Agree to Statement of faith of Canadian Missionary Alliance
