Executive Pastor

The Executive Pastor plays a crucial role in the operational and administrative leadership of our church. This position is responsible for ensuring that the church’s day-to-day functions align with its mission and vision, supporting both the Lead Pastor and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management (30%):

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the church’s operations, including administration, finance, and staff management.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor to act on and implement the church’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise church staff, ensuring effective performance, professional development, and a healthy workplace environment.

Operational Oversight (25%):

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including facilities management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Implement and monitor systems and processes to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the church’s financial resources, including budgeting, financial reporting, and stewardship practices.

Program Development & Implementation (20%):

  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to develop and execute church programs and initiatives that support the church’s mission.
  • Evaluate and enhance existing programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of the congregation and community.

Communication & Coordination (15%):

  • Facilitate effective communication within the church staff and congregation, ensuring clarity and alignment with the church’s goals and values.
  • Coordinate with external organizations, community groups, and stakeholders as needed to further the church’s mission.

Strategic Planning (10%):

  • Lead strategic planning efforts, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve long term goals and address challenges facing the church.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Educational Qualifications: Educational requirements in keeping with The Alliance Canada policy (theological training at a Bachelor degree level or higher from an accredited school, or acceptable equivalents). Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pastoral or senior leadership role within a church or non-profit organization.
  • Vision Alignment: A willingness to sign The Alliance Canada “A Call to Excellence” document.
  • Licensing: Applicants are required to be licensed with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and ordained, or prepared to pursue ordination, with the The Alliance Canada.
  • Background Check: Must pass RCMP criminal record check, and child abuse history clearance.
  • Managerial and Operational Experience: Demonstrated experience in managerial and operational roles, including overseeing budgets and finances. Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams, with experience in building and leading teams being essential.  Leadership of Leaders: Experience in leading leaders and managing staff is a must. Ability to guide, motivate, and develop a team of leaders effectively.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously, with a strong aptitude for utilizing the latest technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Strong understanding of church operations, including financial management, human resources, and program development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Commitment: A deep commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Grande Prairie Alliance Church, with a passion for ministry and community outreach.
