Kids Ministry Director

The Director of Austin Heights Kids will lead a healthy Christ-centred kids ministry focused on creating a fun and engaging environment where the Scriptures are appropriately taught, where children engage in a community of their peers, where parents are supported in the discipleship of their children, and where volunteer leaders are equipped to provide care through ongoing discipleship.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

Proactively and innovatively lead all aspects of Austin Heights Kids, including but not limited to:

  • Organizing and managing Sunday ministry (including set-up, check-in, and teaching teams).
  • Identifying, recruiting and training new volunteers.
  • Processing and screening volunteer applications.
  • Maintaining Safe Space policies and training.
  • Establishing and communicating volunteer team schedules.
  • Planning and leading Austin Heights Kids Special Events.
  • Organizing and directing the annual Austin Heights Kids Daycamp.
  • Preparing the annual Austin Heights Kids budget in conversation with the Campus Pastor and Ministry Coordinator.
  • developing and implementing curriculum for Sunday mornings, in partnership with the Willingdon Kids team.
  • Providing regular communication with parents, both verbal and otherwise.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience leading a kids ministry.
  • Experience in ministry program development and hands-on implementation.
  • A clear call to ministry to kids and families.
  • A high standard of excellence in age-appropriate gospel-centred teaching.
  • A desire to serve in equipping others for opportunities to minister in this context.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Be a follower of Jesus, having recognized and repented of personal sin and baptized as a sign of death to self and life in Jesus. Life must clearly demonstrate a high level of spiritual maturity.
  • Be growing in Christ-likeness demonstrating a commitment to a transformed life through the work of the Holy Spirit in spiritual disciplines such as, prayer, study, giving, fasting, solitude, confession, unity, worship, etc.
  • Have a clear sense of God’s calling to ministry at Austin Heights.
  • Demonstrate a caring heart for others.
  • Be an enthusiastic and creative team leader who is willing to work with current staff and volunteers, with an eye to equipping others for ministry through ongoing discipleship
