Next Gen Ministries Pastor

The Next Gen Ministries Pastor will be a key leader spearheading the vision and experience of discipleship for our Next Gen Ministries (kids, youth and young adults) across all Sanctus sites. This successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Pastor of Sites, and will have a strategic influence on these ministries, i) developing, casting and training the vision and strategy for kids’ ministries, and ii) overseeing the vision and strategy for youth and young adults ministries developed by other Sanctus staff members (Youth and Young Adults pastors).

Our vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’s name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

EXPECTATIONS

  • To be and become a fully devoted follower of Christ and live with character and integrity. 
  • To be fully aligned and working towards the mission and vision of Sanctus Church and embody the staff values.
  • To demonstrate spiritual maturity and ability to lead in a growing church environment.
  • To lead and spearhead the churchwide Next Gen Ministries vision and strategic experience, working primarily from the Sanctus Ajax site and visiting other sites on Sundays when necessary.
  • To be a leader of leaders, galvanizing, training and empowering our Next Gen Ministries staff.
  • Oversee and develop the discipleship strategy and experience for kids, youth, and young adult ministries across all sites, which will be executed by the Next Gen Ministries team in alignment with Sanctus values.
  • Implement an engaging and nurturing discipleship program that encompasses all Sanctus’ 5 discipleship dimensions.
    • Build up a discipleship resources strategy to be implemented across all sites, equipping parents to educate and disciple their kids and youth in alignment with Sanctus’ values.
    • Establish a strategic leadership model with recruitment, training, and mobilization of serve teams within Next Gen Ministries at all Sanctus sites.
  • Provide leadership development and skills growth for the Next Gen Ministries team, working closely with the Executive Pastor of Sites and the team of Site Pastors.
  • Oversee the experience of central church-wide events that involve Next Gen Ministries team, including but not limited to: summer camps, parent nights, retreats, takeovers, and mission trips. 
  • Oversee communications strategy for the Next Gen Ministries team across all sites, in alignment with central Communications direction and guidelines. 
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Sites Team and all Sanctus staff on church-wide events (e.g.: Palm Saturday and Sanctus Conference).
  • Work closely with the Executive Pastor of Sites on ad-hoc pastoral projects and other pastoral duties as required.
  • Plan and manage the fiscal year budget for the Next Gen Ministries team.
  • University degree desired; seminary degree (complete or in progress) desired.
  • The following are beneficial and strongly desired:
    • 3+ years of experience in pastoral or managerial roles
    • Experience in Next Gen Ministries and/or education field is an asset
    • Familiarity with Sanctus Church
    • Experience working in a multi-site, large church context is an asset
    • Work experience in a fast-paced, high-caliber team environment is an asset
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 character and work-related references.
  • Some combination of Leadership, Teaching, Exhortation, or Shepherding. 
  • Other gifts are more than welcome.
