The Worship Coordinator will be responsible for directing and building upon the existing worship ministry at Zion, working alongside all members involved in the worship service ministry, and be directly accountable to Council and the Pastor.
Here at Zion, we exist to live in relationship with GOD, with PEOPLE and with our CITY. The Worship Coordinator will be an integral member of our staff team who will help us live out this vision. They will be required to work with the Pastor, Director of Ministry and Administration and worship leaders to plan meaningful and inspiring weekly worship services that support and reflect Zion’s mission and vision. The Worship Coordinator shall be humble, teachable and possess a heart of worship.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct worship planning with the Pastor, Director of Ministry and Administration and worship leaders. Serve as primary worship leader approximately two Sundays a month.
- Report to Admin Elders about the worship ministry vision, goals and challenges.
- Ensure worship services reflect Christian Reformed Church (CRC) theology.
- Identify, develop, disciple and train musicians and worship leaders.
- Intentionally build relationships with worship team members and plan team events and retreats.
- Communicate and implement expectations for all team members.
- Develop and communicate monthly schedule of worship teams.
- Be an active member of the church community.
- Provide training and resources for worship team members as required.
- Plan and lead special worship services/events (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Christmas Eve, funerals, etc.).
- Help create and source audio/visual resources for worship services.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry and report at the annual congregational budgetary meeting.
- Be responsible for coordinating instrument care.

- Be a passionate follower of Christ, who pursues a deeper relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, worship, and fellowship in community.
- Live a life-style in obedience to God’s Word and encourage others to do the same.
- Exemplify a servant heart and attitude.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to listen, communicate and deal with interpersonal issues with people of all ages and demographics, the ability to work with and delegate to worship leaders.
- Be a team player who can work with Zion staff and leadership.
- Serve in agreement with the Reformed faith tradition.
- Possess passion and vision in the area of worship ministry.
Experience and Education:
- Music education is an asset.
- Experience in worship leading.
- Proficiencies in vocals and at least one or more proficiencies in guitar, or piano/keyboard.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Familiar with sound system components.
